5 Games 14 days – too much for Theo?
No football action this weekend for us gooners, I don’t know about you but I’ll be taking a pass on the FA cup action seeing it’s on Setanta and all. Anyway there is no point in watching when we already know the blues are going to win.
So what’s going on? Well Barcelona has forced the media and pundits to review their worship of Manchester United and old Red nose, and that’s about all. My congratulations to Mr. Thierry Henry for finally getting his hands on old big ears. I congratulate him and in all honesty he deserves winning a champions league medal but damn Thierry why didn’t you score that goal to put us 2-0 up in Paris? Anyhow, c’est la vie.

Congratulations to TH14 and Barcelona, keep the cup safe. We'll be collecting it next May.
The finals must have been the most one sided 2-0 you’ll ever see. My take on it is that with the first goal coming totally against the run of play knocked the stuffing out of them, it was funny to see how scared they became after conceding the first goal.
One interesting question that came up in the aftermath of the game is would players like Xavi and Iniesta or even Messi would make it if they were born in the UK. With so much emphasis on pace and power I’d be willing to bet that they would have never got the chance to flourish in the youth system in England.
I have had to disagree with the position of Wenger on the Walcott issue. Whilst the coach is well within his rights to want to want maximum rest for his players in the off season, I don’t see the problem with Walcott playing a full schedule for both England teams this summer.
We have to remember that Walcott not only missed 4 months during the season, but he also missed out on the last U-21 tournament. Yes we have to guard against burnout, but I can’t see burnout being such a huge factor when a player has had 4 months off in the season.
It is a gruelling schedule with 5 games in 2 weeks (possibly another 2 in a week), but the senior team games are friendlies and I don’t see Theo playing 180 minutes at full tilt in the 2 games. The kid just wants to play and maybe it will actually sharpen him up for the start of next season.
The Schedule for Theo is as follows.
- June 06 – Kazakhstan
- June 10 – Andorra
- June 15 – Finland
- June 18 – Spain
- June 22 – Germany
- June 26 – Semi
- June 29 – Final
I think Wenger should concentrate on getting in those players we need to strengthen the squad as soon as possible and stop worrying about Theo. I really don’t want us to be waiting until the final day of the transfer window to sign anyone.
Let me know your thought in the comment section, it would be a good idea to add Wengerball to your feed reader so you don’t miss a post or you could follow wengerball on the twitter thingy. Thanks for stopping by.

lol HAK, wilshere is no where close to iniesta. look at him, he’s still playing in the reserves and hardly makes the daily matchday squad for arsenal. true, there’s no doubt about his talent but it will take him quite some time to blossom into a top player like iniesta who has done way more than that.
