Once a mistake, twice a habit.
So Alonso has gone off and hurt his “good friend” Cesc for a second time. I’d like to put it down to some sort of conspiracy, but I very much doubt that Alonso would want to hurt is national team-mate. Stranger things have happened, and I’m sure the injury is just as overblown as the rest of the news stories that abound.

Here you can see plainly Alonso has mischief on his mind
In the space of 24 hours we’ve had Cesc denying the Pep talk, Sagna not able to turn his back on a Madrid offer, Frustrated Eboue to quit gunners, Sagna 100% committed to Arsenal, and back to Cesc injured by Olonso.
The Eboue story is a great example of how quickly non-stories can fill the airwaves, or is it radio waves, what does the internet work on? Anyway — First there’s a translation of an interview in France football, no an extraction of suitable lines from an interview with France football translated for sensational copy. Then there is the alarmist headline even then the lines don’t reflect to badly on the player.
“It would be hard.
“But I think it would be harder to experience another season like this one, too far off the pitch.
“In any case, if I leave Arsenal, it would be for another league because it is out of the question that I develop elsewhere in England.”
That seems perfectly reasonable to me, Eboue is saying even if he was offered a deal to move, it would be hard to leave the club but given the difficulty he endured last season it would be even harder to have to go through the same again. Now I don’t he will have the same experience again nor do I think he expects to but given a choice of leaving Arsenal and going through another season like the last it would be very much easier to leave.
I just don’t see how that could be taken to mean he wants to leave, the headlines are the key to the story though, they all say Eboue “may” leave or “could” leave which goes the same for any player in any club. I “could be a millionaire”, I “may” write a good post. Anything is possible.
Let’s see what else hmm — oh you must read the life and times of heir apparent to DB7 that is David Bentley from the next Becks to Spurs flop. In there is a poignant quote from Wenger in response to Bentley’s “advice” to Theo.
When you’re at one of the biggest clubs in the world you have to accept competition.
‘If you accept it, competition makes you better. If you move down, you’re not at the top
Glen Johnson seems to be giving more credence to the inflated value of English players, how on earth is he worth £17? Is it an English thing or is Benitez just stupid? For a guy who is worried about lack of funds this seems to be a waste of the little available.
And finally … I am waiting anxiously for the inevitable condemnation of Real Madrid from the esteemed Messrs Blatter and Platini. Taking out loans of €152m to fund the transfer of 2 players surely will incur the wrath of the UEFA and FIFA bosses … surely? Maybe? Hopefully?
