West Ham 1 – 2 Arsenal

A quick look at some of the things that stood out for me in yesterday’s Fa Cup 3rd round clash with West Ham. We came out on top with two goals in 5 minutes to set up a meeting with Stoke in the 4th round, but we were made to work hard for the victory.

Money Money Money – Does Arsene have any to spend?

It is hard to know what to believe when it comes to the question of money, the board says there is money available, while Wenger says we have to buy to sell. If the board is telling the truth then Wenger is doing us a disservice, if Wenger is right then we can only thank him for getting us where we are on a shoestring budget.

Arsenal comes through another testing night.

Hull feels like they’ve been done an injustice, never mind that after our poor start to the game we pummelled Hull for 65 minutes, never mind that we had 17 shots on goal compared to Hull’s 3, never mind that Arsenal had 68.3% possession, or Hull committed 19 fouls against us, or that Hull was booked 6 times, or they started time wasting with 75 minutes left. No Arsenal didn’t deserve to win

A definitive week for Arsenal

When Arsenal finally overcame Roma in a penalty shoot-out on Wednesday, manager Arsene Wenger was mocked in some corners for his assertion that the result could increase the players belief and their confidence.
This week Arsenal fans finally can have some hope in a favourable end to what has so far been a testing season for all.

It’s time to cut Eboue adrift.

Looking past his obvious faults it’s easy to see what he could bring to the team. Yesterday for 30 minutes it looked like he was intent on showing us exactly why he is in the squad, with pace and power, his surging runs unsettled Tottenham. He was easily the outstanding player on the pitch until he lost the plot.
