Whatever the headlines tomorrow, my man of the match has to go to Almunia. All our attacking flair would have been for nought if Almunia wasn’t there to foil Fenerbahce who actually had more shots on goal than Arsenal.

Was Arsenal this good? Or Porto that bad?

In stark contrast to Saturday, Arsenal wanted it more. It begs the question though, why can’t we play every game with something approaching that same level of intensity? Why so much inconsistency? If we approach any match with the same attitude as last night then we should be able to win some silverware.

After the debacle of Craven Cottage, last night’s game was just what the doctor ordered. Arsenal had a 2 goal advantage going in the game so getting to the group stages was not an issue, the question was what kind of performance would we get from the Arsenal?
